Every generation has a role to play in God’s ultimate plan for the earth to be filled with His glory (Numbers 14:21). In this generation, God is raising up a people. They will walk by faith, live according to His Word and become vessels for His power to be revealed in the earth. The Body of Christ today has been given both the opportunity and the responsibility to demonstrate the glory of God.
During the time of Moses, God manifested His power on behalf of the children of Israel in such extraordinary ways that entire nations recognized the reality of His presence. When Moses led the Israelites out of bondage, they were known as God’s people because His supernatural power was clearly demonstrated through miracles, signs and wonders.
That same privilege now belongs to the Church. God is preparing a generation of believers who will represent Him with authority and faith, in a world that desperately needs His power and truth.
A Faith Generation That Walks in God’s Ways
For this generation to experience the power of God, believers must develop two defining characteristics that marked the life of Moses. They must become faithful to God and available to Him.
Moses was faithful because he knew the ways of God (Psalm 103:7). His obedience allowed God’s power to be revealed in the earth. As Moses stretched out his hand and God responded with miraculous acts that delivered His people from bondage.
In the same way, God is calling believers today to know His ways through the Word and to walk by faith rather than by sight. The Church has been taught to live according to the Word of God and to build a foundation of faith that cannot be shaken by circumstances or by the shifting opinions of culture.
God is looking for people who will not be moved by every wind of doctrine but have made His Word the final authority in their lives. Those who depend on God’s Word will become the backbone of this move of the Spirit as the glory of God is revealed through the Body of Christ.
A Faith Generation Available to God
God is not looking for people with extraordinary ability because He already possesses all power and wisdom. What He is looking for are people who are willing to make themselves available to Him.
The Body of Christ is made up of spiritual beings who live in physical bodies and who have the Holy Spirit dwelling within them. According to Ephesians 4:24, believers are created after God in righteousness and true holiness, which means they are capable of reflecting His nature and revealing His glory.
However, God cannot fully manifest Himself through people who are dominated by the flesh or distracted by the priorities of the natural world. As believers learn to walk in the spirit and respond to the leading of the Holy Spirit, they become vessels through which God can reveal Himself to the world.
This is why the key element in God’s plan is not ability but availability. When believers surrender their lives to God and commit themselves to His purposes, He can demonstrate His power through them in ways that impact nations and generations.
A Faith Generation Faithful to the Assignment
Jesus made it clear that faithfulness is the defining quality of those who fulfill God’s plan. In His teachings about faithful servants and wise stewards, He consistently emphasized that those who are diligent and prepared are the ones who experience the blessing and joy of their Lord.
God has entrusted every generation with opportunities to advance His Kingdom, and this generation likewise has been given the responsibility to reach the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Church carries the message of salvation, healing and restoration, and through the power of the Holy Spirit believers have been given the authority to preach the Gospel, cast out devils and lay hands on the sick.
Faithful believers understand that the success of their assignment is not determined by their natural abilities but by their willingness to spend time with God, to know Him personally and to obey His direction. When believers dedicate themselves to prayer, fellowship with God and meditation in His Word, they position themselves to walk in the spirit and fulfill the purpose God has designed for their lives.
God is calling for a generation that will say from the heart, “Lord, You can count on me.” As believers we respond with faithfulness and availability, the Church will rise as the glorious Church and the glory of God will shine through His people to reach the world.
