A Prayer Before Receiving Communion
Father God, in the Name of Jesus, we recognise that we have a covenant with You—a covenant that was ratified by the shed blood of Jesus at Calvary.
Because of the fact that Jesus’ body was broken for us, that His blood was shed in our behalf, we acknowledge that He bore sin, sickness, disease, sorrow, grief, fear, torment, unforgiveness, strife and lack for us. Through His sacrifice, we have complete redemption—total deliverance—from the works of Satan.
As new creations in Christ Jesus, we realise our freedom has been bought and paid for. We are forgiven. We are redeemed. And we give thanks for it all, in Jesus’ Name.
After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do show the Lord’s death till he come.
