How To Stand Your Ground Against the Enemy

how-stand-your-ground-against-enemy

The devil appears to have launched a wave of attacks. COVID is trying to ramp up again. Our government has been making some crazy decisions. We are still uncovering election corruption. And on top of all that, there are the personal issues we’ve been facing.

Pastor George Pearsons recently addressed this assault and instructed us to do this: “It is time to get strong in The LORD and stand your ground against the enemy.”

In spite of all that is taking place around us right now, we cannot forget one important truth: WE ARE OVERCOMERS. Ephesians 6:10-14 tells us to be strong in the Lord and stand against the enemy. We’re not wrestling against flesh and blood — we’re fighting the rulers of darkness. And the path to victory is to stand your ground against the enemy no matter how bad things get. Here’s how.

  1. Be Strong in the Lord.

In the face of all that is going on, we are to be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. We must stand up against all the devil’s strategies. We must stand our ground. Hold your ground, soldier, and don’t let the enemy push you back! Advance, and keep on advancing! Charge!

Second Corinthians 1:24 says, “…by faith you stand” (NIV). First Corinthians 16:13 tells us to “be alert and on your guard; stand firm in your faith.” So, we stand in faith against every attack. We stand strong knowing the Lord is on our side no matter what the circumstances may look like.

  2. Stand on God’s Word.

In 1 Corinthians 15:1, Paul said, “I declare unto you the gospel (God’s Word) which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand” (KJV). Whatever is going wrong in our nation or in your life right now, locate a scripture, stand on it, and walk it out to victory. Don’t allow the devil to discourage you. Stand your ground, and don’t let go.

  3. Don’t Lose Heart.

Galatians 6:9 says, “Let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right (or, walking by faith), for in due time and at the appointed season we shall reap, if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faint.” And in Hebrews 10:23 we read: “So let us seize and hold fast and retain without wavering the hope we cherish and confess and our acknowledgement of it, for He Who promised is reliable (sure) and faithful to His word.”

  4. Stand in Faith

How do we stand in faith? We get rooted and grounded in the Word. The more rooted we are in God’s Word, the easier it is for us to stand our ground. Success in standing is in direct proportion to how rooted we are in the Word. Remember this: no root, no fruit Colossians 2:6-7

The more rooted we are, the more we are able to resist the enemy. Psalm 112:6-8 gives us a picture of the believer who is rooted in the Word of God. It describes this person as one who can’t be moved, one who isn’t afraid of bad news, and one whose heart is completely fixed on God. It’s tough to be afraid when you’re thinking about the power of Almighty God!

To become firmly rooted, read your Bible daily, come to church, and listen to faith-filled preaching.

When you make the quality decision to stand your ground against the enemy, you’re on your way to becoming more than a conqueror. Say this out loud right now: “I make the quality decision to stand my ground. I am strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. I stand firm in faith on God’s Word. No matter what is going on around me, I am rooted and grounded in His Word. I refuse to give up or quit. I am not afraid of evil tidings. My heart is established and fixed. I am more than a conqueror through Him who loves me!”
