36 Reasons to Praise the Lord
When you think of praise and worship, your thoughts likely jump to music at the beginning of a church service. But praise is much more than that—it is a spiritual weapon.
When you praise the Lord, it can turn any situation around. Consider these praise-induced victories to stir your faith for your own triumph.
-
“As they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated” (2 Chronicles 20:22, NIV).
-
“About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them, and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. And immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s bonds were unfastened” (Acts 16:25-26, ESV).
-
“And at the seventh time, when the priests had blown the trumpets, Joshua said to the people, ‘Shout, for the Lord has given you the city’” (Joshua 6:16, ESV).
What do these verses tell us?
Praise precedes the victory.
Andrew Wommack testifies the same about a victory he once experienced in his family: “I truly believe that my choice to praise God, even after getting the report that my son was dead, was one of the biggest factors in seeing him raised from the dead after nearly five hours.”
If you need a victory today—the answer is in praising the Lord! Though there are countless reasons to praise the Lord, we’ve compiled a list of 36 reasons to get you started filling up your praise and seeing your victory. (Tip: Read them out loud to stir up a spirit of praise on the inside of you—you’ll be dancing and shouting by the end of the list!)
