A Confession to Overcome Emotional Trauma
A critical father, a mother on drugs, a broken home or the loss of a loved one. Hurts from childhood are often far-reaching. In adulthood, it’s no different. The loss of a child, a divorce or facing bankruptcy can all cause emotional trauma that—if left undealt with—can leave wounds that prevent you from living a life of peace, joy, love and happiness.
You can overcome emotional trauma. Don’t settle for less than God’s best for your life. Begin today with this confession to overcome emotional trauma and take control of your life and happiness!
In Jesus’ Name, I declare that past hardships do not define who I am. I know who I am. I am a child of the Most High God. I am the head and not the tail. I am above everything that has ever happened to me and everything that has ever been said to me and about me. I am more than a conqueror. I have the mind of Christ. I have the strength of God on my side, and I have His favour in every situation.
I declare that I am not defined by the choices of others. My value is not determined by how my parents treated me or spoke to me—my value is found in Christ Jesus. My value is not determined by the loss of a spouse or mistakes I’ve made with my finances.
I refuse to give the devil access to my mind by allowing him to use past events against me. I forgive every person who has ever done me wrong—no matter how bad the offence. And I forgive myself. I do not place blame on myself. I receive the Lord’s forgiveness, and I declare that from this day forward I am free from all guilt, shame, anger, depression or rejection.
Spirit of fear, I rebuke you, in the Name of Jesus. I cast you out of my mind. I have no more fear. I declare that have a spirit of power! God loves me as much as He loves Jesus. The love of God is shed abroad in my heart by the Spirit of God, and perfect love casts out fear. Fear and every bondage, you get out. Leave me now!
Thank You, Lord, that I am healed of all trauma from the past events in my life. I receive Your healing now. It is washing over me and removing all hurts and bad memories. I receive deliverance from rehearsing past words and events. I’m so thankful that in You, Lord, I am free!
Now rejoice and praise Him for your newfound freedom! He is the God who makes all things new—including you! As you move forward, act on your new mindset in faith. If memories or symptoms of trauma try to come on you, rebuke them in Jesus’ Name, and then turn to the Lord. Ask Him to help you work through each part of your emotional healing step by step. Before long, you’ll be focused only on your glorious future. For more help from God’s Word, check out our article, Take Back Your Life: How to Overcome Emotional Trauma.
