A: Dating for a single Christian, like everything in life, should be by faith.
God has given sources of guidance for young people (and older people) to help them in their relationships.
Prayer, of course, is the way to find God’s will for every aspect of dating. Who, what, when, where, why and how are the questions involved in a dating relationship. God knows all the ins and outs of dating and all the ins and outs of YOU. He knows if you should date, when you should date and whom you should date. Ask Him.
God’s Word is the perfect guidebook for building and maintaining relationships of every kind. In His Word, God has laid out with whom single Christians should be in relationship with and how people should treat one another.
Parental guidance for young people is key to making decisions about dating. Involving parents in this area of life can lead to making relationships that will build your life rather than tear it down. Parents have been responsible for their children since birth, and they will be a great source of guidance for dating. For older people, guidance from a trusted friend or one in spiritual authority will be of help in making decisions about dating.
In the end, dating is a means of building friendship. Whether or not dating leads to marriage, it should always lead to lasting Kingdom relationships.
