Uncommon faith begins with an extraordinary hope—the hope that transforms your life is a confident expectation rooted in the promises of God. As Hebrews 11:1 declares, “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” This connection between faith and hope is what empowers believers to overcome life’s greatest challenges. When hope in God’s Word takes centre stage, faith becomes the bridge that brings His promises into our reality.
Hope is not mere optimism. It’s a spiritual force that energizes faith, giving believers a bold assurance that God is faithful to perform what He has promised. Whether you’re praying for healing, restoration, or provision, hope acts as the foundation upon which faith stands strong.
A Faith That Sees Beyond the Natural
Uncommon faith doesn’t rely on circumstances, logic, or what can be seen. Instead, it boldly embraces the unseen realities of God’s promises and pulls them into the natural realm. This faith enables believers to say, “God’s Word says it’s mine, so I have it now!” It is not wishful thinking—it’s a certainty anchored in the unchanging truth of Scripture.
Real hope is based on what God has already said. It is always right now. Hebrews 11:1(KJV) says,“ Now, faith is the substance of things hoped for….” Notice that faith is based on hope. It’s an expectation of what’s sure to come.
Take Abraham as an example. Romans 4:18-21(NIV) says “against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations.” Remember, God is watching His word, and will hasten His word to perform it (Jeremiah 1:12), because what He has said will not return void, His Word – the promise God has given you – will achieve what He said it will achieve (Isaiah 55:11). All Abraham had to do was believe, and so it was so – Sarah, against all hope, bore him a son, just as God said she would.
This hope-filled faith caused Abraham to ignore natural limitations and trust in God’s ability to do the impossible. Pit Biblical hope against worldly hope to bring about victory despite the circumstances around us, just like Abraham did in his life.
Steps to Building Uncommon Faith
Uncommon faith isn’t developed overnight—it grows through intentional steps:
1. Feed on God’s Word Daily: Romans 10:17 says, “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” Regularly immersing yourself in Scripture strengthens your faith and keeps hope alive.
2. Meditate on God’s Promises: Joshua 1:8 instructs believers to meditate on God’s Word day and night. This practice allows the Word to create a vivid picture of hope in your heart.
3. Speak Faith-Filled Words: Mark 11:23 teaches the power of speaking to our circumstances with faith with faith. Declaring God’s promises as though they are already fulfilled, activates your faith and aligns your words with His truth.
Uncommon faith also requires persistence. Like a bulldog, it bites down on God’s Word and refuses to let go. Challenges will come, but we must remain steadfast, trusting that God will fulfill what He has spoken.
