As we prepare to step into a new year, remember the favour of God is on you! It’s important to reflect on the divine truth that His favour is not only available to us but is actively working on our behalf. God’s favour, intertwined with His anointing, is a supernatural advantage that empowers us to succeed in every season of life. Let’s explore what this favour means, how it connects with the anointing, and how it can carry you through the year ahead with confidence and joy.
What Is God’s Favour?
God’s favour is His unmerited grace, His kindness, and His supernatural assistance in our lives. It surrounds His children like a shield (Psalm 5:12) and paves the way for blessings, breakthroughs, and victories. It’s not something you earn; it’s a gift from God, rooted in His love and available through Jesus Christ.
The Apostle Paul reminds us in Ephesians 2:8: “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God” (NIV). Grace, often synonymous with favour, is God’s way of positioning us for success, whether spiritually, emotionally, or materially.
Favour and Anointing: A Heavenly Connection
The anointing of God represents His empowerment and presence in our lives. This anointing works hand in hand with His favour. When you walk in the awareness of God’s favour, you activate His anointing, which equips you to fulfill His purpose for your life.
The story of David beautifully illustrates this connection. Anointed by Samuel (1 Samuel 16:13), David walked in God’s favour throughout his life. Whether facing Goliath, enduring Saul’s jealousy, or becoming king, God’s favour and anointing brought him through every challenge. This same anointing is available to you (2 Corinthians 1:21, 1 John 2:20, 27) today through Jesus, the Anointed One (Luke 4:18-19).
God’s Favour Follows You Through Every Season
The favour of God is not seasonal; it’s perpetual. It doesn’t waver based on circumstances or challenges. As Isaiah 61:3 assures, He gives beauty for ashes and joy for mourning—reminders that His favour transforms every situation for good.
Even in moments of waiting or difficulty, God’s favour is at work. The Israelites, during their journey to the Promised Land, often faced trials. Yet, God’s favour ensured they were fed with manna, their clothes didn’t wear out, and His presence guided them by day and night (Deuteronomy 29:5). Similarly, no matter what this year brings, God’s favour will sustain and guide you.
You Receive God’s Favour by Faith
God’s favour provides every possible blessing and goodness He has to give and is always available to us. Our part is faith – the act of believing and receiving His favour in our lives. So, where do we get the faith to receive? “Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by The Word of God” (Romans 10:17, KJV). We find out the truth about God’s favour, goodness and blessing as we hear His Word on these things. Faith comes, we believe, and we begin to receive the favour of God in our lives.

Stepping Into a New Year With Expectation
As you enter the new year, declare God’s favour over your life. Start each day by speaking His promises: “I am surrounded by God’s favour like a shield. I walk in His anointing, and every step I take is ordered by the Lord” (Psalm 37:23).
Here are three practical ways to live in His favour in the coming year:
1. Stay Rooted in His Word: Meditate on scriptures that affirm God’s promises.
2. Speak Favour Over Your Life: Confess His favour and anointing over every aspect of your life.
3. Walk in Faith and Obedience: Trust His timing and follow His lead, even when the path isn’t clear.
